Richmond Gas Co

This long standing, but now demolished building was just North East of the old Main Street Bridge. According to the IHSSI County Survey of 2001, it was built around 1855. It was originally part of the Richmond Gas Company, much later a “Haunted House”, then long abandoned and demolished in 2009/2010 after a local teenager fell through the roof from the still existing C&O railroad trestle. There was a little graff on the main building, including, what I always thought read “Kuff,” but it may actually be “Puff,” and it has a “Dank” tag next to it, from the mid/late 90s. There was also a blue “Dark” tag from a few years later on the overhead door. A very small mini-piece, in two colors by Kwiz was on the back. Behind the Video Store and Ruff-Neck Toy Artifact

Practice toy tags by “Sir-Marks-A-Lot” (Smalot, silly abbreviated name) from 1997. Permanent marker (probably a Marks-A-Lot marker) on Rubbermaid plastic container lid, 1997. Well, the kid did mark a lot. A little later the name was shortened to “Sir”, as barely seen on the electrical box, and some local marker tags from ten years later. Digital photos from Jan 2013.

Clear Creek Bridge: Part 2

The bridge over Clear Creek on National Road West was demolished and replaced 2010-2011. Part of the original lip/walkway underneath remains, but the bridge itself if much lower underneath. The original bridge was a local piecing spot. 1-2: scanned prints, “Wack w/ Scrap”, Sufr over Sufr over Senoz over Sone over Kwiz. The Kwiz piece and character was the freshest thing there, but was covered up, unfortunately. OG bridge, 3-4: scanned prints, Anxer and Enter, new bridge circa 2011/12. The rest: digital photos, Mar 2017, showing the remaining original lip/walkway.

C&O Efflorescence

Here are some digital shots of the red/orange Kwiz piece that is circa mid-late 90s painted on a former C&O bridge, most likely sometime after the line was abandoned in 1994. This piece is still visible today, although the efflorescent stains are taking over and it has be clipped by another writer. Wikipedia summary: “Efflorescence is the process where salts migrate to the surface of a porous material, forming a white, powdery deposit.” Photos from 2013-2023.

9th Street Bridge: P IV

Here are some photos of the pieces next to the trackside Kwiz at the now demolished bridge. The archival photos are from the IHSSI County Survey online database, and they list is as Straight Line Pike rather than 9th Street. The one colorful piece, was covered up by brush for years and I never knew it existed until it was all cut back to demolish the bridge. By looking at the letter style and color-scheme, I can now pretty confidently attribute it to Kwiz. I am not totally sure what it says, but my initial interpretation was “Spill’n Skills”, which does relate to the “Skills Flow Like Ink” piece. The other Jesu, looks like it may have been a silver with a black outline, as the fill is totally gone. There is also a newer “CHUD” outline over it, which at first looks like part of the piece. In my photo of the Kwiz piece from 2001, I can’t see that one in the picture. Photos: 1-2: From IN dot gov SHAARD- Circa 2001. You can see a character on the pillar that might be by “La Femme”, and a GRO tag. On the back wall you can see the Kwiz piece faintly, more so in the second darkened version. 3: Scale of buffed Kwiz piece shown.
